On Thursday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m., water treatment specialist Tom Lilly will talk about water and its impact in our daily lives. After outlining the sources and qualities of the water we use at home, he will offer ideas for environmentally sound landscape design and water treatment. There is no cost for the workshop, and attendees are invited to bring a water sample for a free water quality analysis.
On Saturday, March 5, from 2-3 p.m., Shawn Belt, the Green Corps Manager from the Cleveland Botanical Garden, will introduce attendees to the idea of lasagna gardening. By layering organic material to create thick raised beds, this technique can be an easy way to add garden space anywhere – even in parking lots!
Cost for the lasagna gardening workshop will be $8 for Local Roots members and $10 for non-members. To register for the class, please call the market at 330-263-5336 by Tuesday, March 1.
More gardening workshops will be scheduled throughout the spring. Stop by Local Roots to learn more!
