I usually don’t buy or collect baseball cards, but at a recent card auction I just had to buy this card of Bucky Harris. Bucky was a product of the Pennsylvania coal fields from which so many of the pre-war major league stars came. In 1924 as a boy manager, he led Washington to its first Pennant, repeating in 1925. He shortly afterward retired as a player manager. Later, he came out of retirement to manage the Red Sox. All-in-all, he was a manager for 12 years. I just had to have this card because my nickname in college was Bucky Harris.
