Area artists to showcase talents at inaugural Wooster Jam Session

The College of Wooster will present an inaugural Jam Session, a two-day multimedia celebration of exhibited and performed art and music, April 22-23 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Presented by the Center for Entrepreneurship, the event will celebrate and showcase the richness, diversity, and quality of artists associated with the college and the community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni as well as visual and performing artists from the Wooster area. The event, which runs from 4 p.m. to midnight each day, is free and open to the public.

The Jam Session was conceived by James Levin, director of Wooster’s Center of Entrepreneurship and the founder and artistic director of the acclaimed Ingenuity Festival, which takes place in downtown Cleveland each year. Levin’s chief faculty collaborator, Alyssa Wilmot, a visiting professor of dance at Wooster and an alumnus of the college, has produced similar festivals in the bay area of California.

The Wooster Jam Session welcomes artists of all backgrounds, from ensemble and solo music performers, to rock bands, dancers, and theatrical artists, as well as video and film artists, photographers, jugglers, buskers, and magicians. The deadline for registration is April 1. Participants can apply online at http://www.woosterjamsession.com.

The Jam Session will also feature food and beverages, and is a refreshing weekend escape from the daily grind, as well as an inventive re-use of the historic fairgrounds.
