Esther D. Kilmer, 95, died April 20, 2011, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center, Orrville, following a period of declining health.

Esther was born Nov. 21, 1915, in Orrville, to the late Jonas “J.S.” and Mary Ellen “Ella” Horst. She was a 1933 graduate of Orrville High School and was united in marriage to Wilbur M. Kilmer on Sept. 27, 1934. Wilbur died in 2002.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had attended Orrville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, and her hobbies had included gardening, decorating, and shopping.

Surviving are her children, Ellen Clark, Jeff (Sharrie) Kilmer, and Steve (Freda) Kilmer, all of Orrville; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul (Helen) Horst of Wooster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; brother, Willis Horst; sister, Ruth Singer; half-brothers, Leroy and Vernon Horst; and half-sister, Clara Burkholder.

Services were held April 25, at Auble Funeral Home, Orrville, with Rev. Ray Pfahler officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.
