Patrol investigating a two-vehicle motorcycle crash

Ohio State Highway Patrol from the Wooster Post are investigating a two vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. The crash occurred on May 22 at 3:06 p.m. on Kimber Road, west of SR 83, in Wayne County.

Iva P. Farnham, 86, of Shreve, was traveling eastbound on Kimber Road in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala. Anthony L. Penick, 35, of Big Prairie, was traveling westbound on Kimber Road on a 1984 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Classic. Farnham attempted to turn left into a private drive, failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and was struck by Penick. Farnham’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Penick was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on the roadway. Penick’s motorcycle remained on the roadway after impact.

Penick was transported to Wooster Community Hospital with serious injuries to his head and chest. Penick was then transported by air to Akron City Hospital. Penick was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Farnham was treated and released at the scene.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for motorcyclists and look for the light. Warmer weather and higher fuel prices are making motorcycles the preferred method of transportation.
