The duo dominated their respective age groups in the meet, which was sponsored by the Wayne County Track Club. Competing in the 7-8 boys age group, Niro won all five individual events, including the long jump and softball throw, as well as the 50, 100, and 200-meter sprints.
It was a similar story in the 9-10 boys as Lonnie Harper dominated his age group. Harper took the 50, 100, 200 and 400 sprints, as well as the softball throw and standing long jump. He then had a hand on the 4x100 relay as he joined Lukas McCreary, Jeremy Steele and Lane Wilson on that winning relay.
In the girls 7-8 age group, Anah Krinke was a triple winner, taking the standing long jump and softball throws and sprinting to a win in the 100 meters. Lydia Dunham won the 50, while Emily McCreary captured the 200.
For the 9-10 girls, Kenedy Bernadine sprinted to four blue ribbons as she won the 50, 100, 200 and 400 dashes. Sara Ice won the softball throw and Emma Cannon the SLG, while the 4x100 relay of Ice, McCreary, Sydney Questel and Madi Miller won that race.
Gavin Stika topped the boys 11-12 group with a trio of firsts, taking the top spot in the 400, 800 and 1600. Avalonn Harper won the 100, while Cole Smith took the shot put and the 200 in a close finish. Zach Cannon captured the long jump and was then part of the 4x100 relay with Smith, Avalonn and Taelonn Harper.
Sami Ice had a trio of victories for the girls 11-12 age group, taking the long jump, 800 and 400. Audrey Bishop won the shot and 100, while Mimi Wile (1600) and Esther Hart (200) also had winning performances. The 400 relay of Michaela Unkerfer, Ice, Becca Miller and Wiles combined to post the top time in that event.
For the 13-14-year-old boys, Brevin Harris had a hand in four firsts and Kevin White won three events. Harris took the long jump, shot, 200 and 400, while White captured the standing long jump, and the 800 and 1600 runs.
Camila Herrada sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 sprints on the girls 13-14 side, while Mary Hart won the long jump and 400.
The WCTC will host the Hershey local track and field meet, June 14 at Follis Field, with sign ups beginning at 5 p.m. and the field events at 5:30.
