On Saturday, July 30, from noon to 8 p.m., the first Baiwoop Art Festival will take place in OARDC’s Secrest Arboretum and Gardens. Baiwoop has been organized in an effort to showcase the work of local artists and bring community members back into the arboretum after the Sept. 16, 2010 tornado. In addition to artists’ displays, there will be live and interactive demonstrations, including Wayne Center for the Arts children’s activity booth, performances by area musicians, drum circles, hacky sack circles, vinyl record sales, and food vending provided by area restaurants. A silent auction with pieces by featured artists will take place at 6 p.m. All proceeds will go toward the Secrest Arboretum Fund, number 308772, to aid the arboretum’s recovery from the tornado damage. This event is free of charge to the public as well as artists. Questions and further inquiries can be addressed to event coordinator and OARDC employee Matt Shultzman at
