On Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m., Local Roots will host another “Eating in Season” cooking class, featuring great new ideas with seasonal produce. Find out tasty new ways to enjoy tomatoes and other late summer fruits and vegetables, and head home with a packet full of recipes, nutritional facts, and more ideas. There is no cost for this class.
If you’re just browsing the shelves to find healthy eats and treats, look around the market for these items:
- peanut and other nut butters
- cheese curds – fun and full of protein!
- whole grain breads and pita for sandwiches
- fresh fruit: peaches and berries now, apples to come
- salsa and chips
- fresh vegetables: carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, greens, and more
- yogurt
Visit the Local Roots Café, too, and pick up pre-made salads, quiche, and other take-out items made from fresh local ingredients. There’s always something new to try.
