A discussion of membership dues was held and it was decided that we should have the state federation try to write up a resolution for the next national convention that NARFE reduce the spouse’s membership dues and delete the NARFE magazine for the spouse.
A discussion was also held about the public’s misconception about federal workers and how “wonderful” the pension and benefits are. Maybe NARFE should take up a national campaign to publicize the facts about this.
Vickie pointed out the picture of members selling sandwiches that was published in the Out and About section of the NARFE magazine this month and also that she had written a letter to the editor about current legislation and it was published in two local papers.
The Christmas party will be held Dec. 8, at 11:30 a.m., at the Pines Restaurant. A donation will be asked for each member attending and the chapter will cover the remaining part of the bill.
Paul Schaffter is diligently working on the slate of officers for the year 2012 and will present it at the next meeting.
The next meeting will be Oct. 13, at 11:30 a.m., at Ryan’s Steak House in Wooster.
