Senior cosmetology students at the Wayne County Schools Career Center will host a Mani for the Cure! event Oct. 17-19, from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

The students will give manicures and paraffin wax treatments for donations to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donations will be given to the Wooster Community Hospital Foundation breast cancer department. Manicures will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, and no appointments are needed. Light refreshments will be served.

Ashley Louis, of Triway, had an idea for the community service project, then worked with class president Megan Nutter, of Norwayne, to make the idea a reality.

The Wayne County Schools Career Center is located at 518 West Prospect St. in Smithville, and the cosmetology lab customer entrance is in B-Wing, on the left (east) side of the building as you enter the front driveway at the school. Customer parking is available at the front of the school for the cosmetology lab.

Wooster Community Hospital provides health fairs in the community, and uses the funds to provide oncology nurses to talk to community members about the importance of self-breast examinations, mammograms and provide other information about breast cancer. The foundation also provides assistance for those who need mammograms, but cannot afford them.

For more information about Mani for the Cure, call the cosmetology lab at 330-669-7040. The cosmetology instructor is Sarah Stahl.
