NARFE chapter holds meeting
NARFE, Wayne County Chapter 2218, met Oct. 13 at Ryan’s Steak House in Wooster. Speaker for the meeting was attorney Jim Lanham of Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston law firm. He spoke to the members about nursing home care, Medicaid eligibility, long-term care insurance, wills and trusts. A question and answer period followed his presentation.
During the brief business meeting, members were reminded to contact their Congressional representatives regarding HR 1351 and also the Super Committee regarding federal retirees benefits.
There will be a COL this year, and the amount will be announced Oct. 19. There has not been a COL in 2010 and 2011.
The Christmas party will be held Dec. 8 at The Pines Golf Club & Restaurant.
Paul Schaffter presented a proposed “Slate of Officers” for the year 2012.
The next meeting will be Nov. 10, 2011 at Ryan’s Steak House. The speaker will be a representative from the Veterans Administration.
