While Kindles, Nooks and other e-readers have their place, nothing quite beats holding a good book in your hands, as evidenced by the huge crowd that gathered at Fisher Auditorium on the OARDC campus Nov. 5 for the Buckeye Book Fair.

In its 24th year, the annual Buckeye Book Fair offers book lovers of all ages the chance to do things they rarely have the opportunity to do - meet their favorite authors one-on-one and rub elbows with local celebrities including legendary Cleveland television personality and meteorologist Dick Goddard and Ziggy author and illustrator Tom Wilson Jr.

With 96 authors, illustrators and photographers offering nearly 300 different books, there was something for everyone at an event that is billed as the largest literary event in Ohio.

Proceeds from the Buckeye Book Fair are used to support literacy programs in Ohio. Since its inception in 1987, approximately 250 grants totaling nearly $200,000 have been awarded to libraries and literacy programs across the state of Ohio.
