Wooster man dies in head-on collision
A Wooster man was killed in a Monday, Dec. 5 crash on state Route 83.
Kevin A. Browning, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle accident that occurred north of Township Road 576.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wooster Post, reports, Browning was northbound on state Route 83 in a 1992 Nissan Maxima at approximately 2:40 p.m. Browning went left of center going into a curve and struck a southbound 2001 GMC Sierra driven by Richard P. Schalmo, 63, of Shreve, head-on.
Schalmo’s truck went off the west side of the road following the collision.
Schalmo and his passenger, Mary Jo Schalmo, 60, were transported from the accident site by Prairie Township EMS. They are both listed in satisfactory condition at Aultman Hospital.
State Route 83 was closed for approximately two and a half hours following the accident.
