Albert was born June 27, 1920, in Killbuck, to the late Albert C. Sr. and Gertrude Fites. He was a lifetime farmer, introducing soybean planting in the area, retiring in 1978. In retirement, he held various part-time jobs in the Millersburg area. He attended Welding School.
Albert was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theatre. He was a chief petty officer and ran a welding shop on that naval repair ship. He was a lifetime member of the Killbuck VFW and a past member of Killbuck Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling and was an armchair sports fan and an avid photographer.
Surviving are children, Sandra (William) White of Dixie, W.Va., and Gretchen (Garrol) Acker of Shreve; a grandson, Cory Robert Acker; and sister, Lucille Balliet of Sarasota, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mae Fites, whom he married Oct. 27, 1951; and brother, Waldo Fites.
Services will be held Dec. 18, at 2 p.m., at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Pastor Diane McCartney officiating. Burial will be in Killbuck Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by the Killbuck VFW. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
