The Wayne County Schools Career Center Key Club student organization is participating in the Change Bandit Akron Children’s Miracle Network as a community service project. Change Bandit is a radiothon by the Akron-Canton radio station 98.1 WKDD to raise money for Akron Children’s Hospital, with the slogan, “Have a Heart, Do your Part.”
Students are receiving donations of spare change to support Akron Children’s Hospital, and posting paper hearts with donor’s names on the wall in the school commons. Career center career-technical programs are competing to see which program can donate the most money through Jan. 25. The winning program will get a pizza party for their efforts.
The Key Club’s goal was $150, said Key Club co-adviser Barb Nichols, and after three days, $100 had been collected. Julia Menchaca is also co-adviser for the student organization.
