With the beginning of a new calendar year, the Local Roots Café expanded its hours, serving up fresh seasonal dishes made with local ingredients weekdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The change in hours meets the need of those shoppers stopping by Local Roots Market after work and looking for a quick dinner or an easy-to-reheat meal to take home. The café menu now includes soups, panini sandwiches, quiche, breakfast sandwiches and wraps, and salads. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices are regularly available.

In addition, the café team is focusing efforts on expanding the “to-go” selection of prepared soups, entrees, and side dishes for shoppers looking for a quick meal. Recent offerings have included meat pies, scalloped potatoes, roasted squash, and fresh salads. The selection varies from week to week, depending on the fresh produce available in the market.

Future plans from the café team include box lunches available by advance order for local businesses; catered meals; and special breakfasts.
