Roots of Health dinner series continues

Local Roots Market and Café, in partnership with the Wooster Community Hospital, is continuing a ten-week series of conversations and meals to promote health management through good nutrition.

The Roots of Health Dinner Club meets Monday nights at 5:30 p.m. at Local Roots through March 26. The cost for each evening’s meal and speaker is $12 for Local Roots members and $15 for non-members. Upcoming speakers and topics include:

• Feb. 20: Karen Geiser, local farmer and author, will present information about the health benefits of grass-fed animal products. Attendees will enjoy a grass-fed dinner; vegan option available.

• Feb. 27: Dave Cannon, Manager of Rehabilitation Services at the Cleveland Clinic, will share his views on “Exercise: A Prescription for Health.” A vegan dinner will be served.

• March 5: Rashell Kimble, physician’s assistant, will discuss “Eating for Healthy Digestion,” focusing especially on cancer prevention.

As a year-round market for locally-produced foods and other agricultural products, Local Roots Market and Café is located at 140 S. Walnut St. in Wooster. The market is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m; and the café is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Membership is not required to shop.
