It’s one thing to make promises that you will provide the things people want. It’s a different task to know how to work within the changing financial boundaries of a challenging economy. We need someone who has current, up-to-date experience. We need to elect a sheriff who knows where to look for money and how to use it wisely. If not, it could be devastating to the financial stability of our sheriff’s department and possibly have an effect on the safety of our communities. A lack of knowledge and experience could make a difference on future procedures in many aspects of our county. This lack of knowledge shows when a simple question about the SRCCC cannot be addressed; a topic that a leader of Wayne County law enforcement should know. See for yourself the responses by going to www.hardmanforsheriff.com and watch the debate videos. Can someone who has been absent for two or more years from the challenges of a job be fully prepared to carry out the demands of managing the current state of affairs?
Being the head of our county’s sheriff’s office has an effect on all of us. It does require experience in patrolling and civil departments, but additional experience in budgeting, hiring, and managing is crucial. This kind of experience cannot be learned after someone has been elected to this level of responsibility. We need someone who is informed, experienced, and committed to handling the job when it begins.
Charlie Hardman has current, in-depth experience with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. He has experience with patrol, civil, detective work, and management. He has developed good working relationships with other law enforcement resources and elected officials. Capt. Hardman has what it takes to provide us with a safe county.
Vote for Hardman March 6.
