Region 8 includes Buckeye Career Center, New Philadelphia; Canton South High School; GlenOak High School, North Canton; Lake High School, Hartville; R.G. Drage Career Center, Massillon; Washington High School, Massillon; and the Wayne County Schools Career Center, Smithville.
The business students gathered for the awards ceremony at Grace Brethren Church in Wooster Feb. 9. Regional BPA officers led the meeting. The top six students or teams in each contest received medals, and first and many second-place students also received plaques.
The Workplace Skills Assessment program is an integral part of Business Professionals of America. The goal is to provide all business students with the opportunity to demonstrate workplace skills learned through business education curricula. Students demonstrate occupational competencies, broaden their knowledge, skills and attitudes, expand leadership and human relation skills, demonstrate a competitive spirit and receive recognition. This years theme for BPA competition is Reach New Heights.
Wayne County advisers are Janice Anderson, medical office management instructor, Chris Boyan, interactive media instructor, and Theresa Chmura, business and marketing technologies instructor. Carol Mills, career center administrative assistant, announced the winners, and IT specialist Ed Grzybowski assisted with technical support.
