More than 200 youth, ages 7 through 12, gathered at the Orrville track on Saturday, May 12, for the Smith Dairy Track and Field meet. Among that group were three dozen youngsters from the Wayne County Track Club, which is sponsored by Wooster Parks and Recreation.
The meet featured standard events, such as the 100- and 400-meter dashes, along with the 800 and 1600 runs. Also included were such events as the scissor-kick high jump and turbo javelin throws. All told, there were 11 different events across the six separate age groups.
The meet has been sponsored by Smith Dairy for the past 24 years and is open to youth across Wayne County.
