On August 15, 16, and 17, the Orrville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Learning for Life Adult Education, and the Salvation Army-Orrville Service Center will again partner to provide a wide variety of free clothing for children, adults, and teens. Last year’s giveaway provided clothing for more than 2,000 individuals from all over Wayne County and adjacent areas. These giveaways add a measure of comfort for those with a large family, economic stress, illness, unemployment, family separations, or tragedies. Even families and individuals with steady employment sometimes have difficulty stretching incomes to provide school or work clothes.

Free clothing, accessories, and household linens will be available at the C&MA Church, 300 S. Walnut St., Orrville, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Friday. Families may donate outgrown clothing and look for items that fit their growing children. Everyone is welcome to take clothing; no donations necessary. No paperwork is required. Do not take items to sell as we may have limited quantities.

Donations of clean clothing, accessories, and household linens may be dropped-off on Wednesdays at the church garage, 218 E. Chestnut St., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. After Sunday, August 12, take donations directly to the church. Call to arrange other drop-off times. Pickup may be available if there is no other transportation resource. Any unsold garage sale items are greatly appreciated. Tax receipts are available.

Volunteers from the community are needed to sort clothing. Court ordered community service volunteers are welcome but must preregister.

Kenny Mangle, Eagle Scout candidate and 2012 chairman, will be working with co-chairmen Linda McAninch and Peggy Steiner. Contact 330-465-5831, 330-465-9747, or learning4life@earthlink.net for information.

In addition to free GED and job search assistance information, referrals to other community agencies and resources will be available. Community resources and agencies are encouraged to send information packets and pamphlets to be distributed or posters to be displayed.
