That’s the experience hundreds of runners will enjoy at the 2012 Berlin Amish Country Half Marathon and 5K, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 24.
Participants in both races will wind their way through some of the most beautiful scenery in Ohio, taking in the dramatic details of rolling hills, fiery fall foliage, newly harvested crops, farm animals, Amish buggies, and fresh laundry gently waving in the crisp fall air.
The half marathon and 5K is being presented by the Berlin Main Street Merchants.
Race sponsors include some of the Berlin businesses you know and love: CMA, Gospel Book Store, Miller’s Septic Tank Service, The Bargain Hunter and Zinck’s Family of Inn.
“The 5K and half marathon are run on township and county roads of Ohio’s Amish Country,” adds Mark Fowler, race organizer. “These races are being developed by runners for runners. Come and enjoy the country setting and be a part of the inaugural race.”
Contrary to what you might be imagining, the races will start and finish near plenty of clean restrooms and a heated assembly area.
All profits from the race will go to the East Holmes Fire Department and the Berlin Main Street Merchants.
