Lecture to focus on civil rights in popular culture

Kirt Wilson, director of graduate studies and associate professor of rhetoric and political communication at Pennsylvania State University, will present “Confronting America’s Racial Paradox: The Civil Rights Movement in Popular Film and Political Imagination" on Tuesday, Oct. 24 for the Wooster Forum at 7:30 p.m. at McGaw Chapel, College of Wooster, 340 E. University St.
 
Wilson is a scholar of political communication, rhetorical criticism and contemporary theories of race and society. His research moves from African American public discourse to presidential rhetoric and from the political history of the Civil War era to the symbolic construction of memory in the late 20th century.
